Quality Inspector

Balfour Beatty VINCI is proud to be designing and building a 90KM stretch of the West Midlands section of HS2. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Quality Inspector within the Quality and Assurance team.

This role will be based on site in Water Orton. Delta Junction will cover a 14 KM stretch within the Water Orton area. The sublot will be responsible for major structures including bridges, viaducts & embankments. This is a great environment to grow due to the complexity of the work involved.

Role description:

  • To support the Balfour Beatty Vinci joint venture, working on the HS2 project to deliver a world class railway in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance as a self-certified main contractor.
  • To support the co-ordination, submission, compliance and management of all assurance activities and the resolution of assurance related issues.
  • To ensure implementation of the IPTAN Way, the project IMS, to provide evidence of “self-assurance” including submissions from the supply chain and adherence to approved test and inspection plans for the delivery of the works.

Experienced required

  • Experience of Major Civil Engineering projects. 
  • Knowledge and experience of working to UK and International Standards, and industry Codes of Practice.
  • Quality subject matter expertise and proven track record in Quality Management.
  • A formal qualification in Quality Management or Civil Engineering, e.g. Bachelor or Master’s Degree.
  • Trained in ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor.
  • Either a CQI Member or working towards membership.
  • CSCS Card Holder / SMSTS.
  • Valid Driving Licence to drive in the UK.

Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

• 42 viaducts totalling over 11km

• 66 overbridges

• More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km

• 56 culverts

• 66 embankments reaching over 33km

• Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures

• Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
