About the Role

Social Care & Education Jobs is proud to partner with a leading provider of Specialist Education & Supported Living for children, young people, and adults with disabilities, including Autism. We are seeking a dedicated EHCP Coordinator to join a specialist education college and separate school in Ferndown, Dorset, where you will play a key role in preparing children aged 11-16 for adult life. These students have additional social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration across the School & College.
  • Proactive EHCP Management: Stay on top of EHCP documentation, proactively identifying and addressing issues to ensure smooth processes.
  • Accurate Data Handling: Collect and present precise data required for School quality assessments, working closely with the team.
  • Support for ‘At-Risk’ Pupils: Assist Heads of Education/School in identifying students who may be at risk, offering timely support.
  • Efficient Record-Keeping: Ensure the School/College's EHCP records are maintained accurately and are easily accessible to teachers and staff.
  • Objective Setting and Review: Support teachers, therapy specialists, and care teams in setting relevant and meaningful EHCP objectives, and ensure they complete necessary reviews on time.
  • Meeting Preparation: Ensure that Heads of School, Education, Therapy, and Care are thoroughly prepared for both internal and external meetings.

Criteria for Success:

  • In-depth Knowledge of SEND & EHCPs.
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and the processes surrounding Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Familiarity with SEND Code of Practice: Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant disability legislation.
  • Experience in SEN Settings: Proven experience working within a specialist SEN school or college environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong typing accuracy and precision in record-keeping.
  • Safeguarding Awareness: Knowledge and awareness of safeguarding practices for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively, handling multiple tasks with strong organisational skills.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
